The database indexed here contains the ancestors of our granddaughter Elise Florencia Verkoren. It also includes the members of the ancestor families. The surname VERKOREN stems from COREN, which is a patronymic surname. The earliest forefather in our database is a Cornelis Coren, (i.e. Cornelis son of Cornelis) who lived around 1600 in the coastal village of Monster, south of The Hague. The surname carried by his descendants changed gradually into VERCOREN, VERKOORN, VERKOOREN, and VERKOREN. Other well-represented surnames are AMERONGEN, HAAR, HEMELAAR, Van der HOEVEN, HOOIJER, PEELS, VERWOERD, VOETEN, AND VREUGDENHIL. The index contains about 1400 individuals and 430 different surnames.
