WILLEM VERWOERD (Verwoert) was born in about 1610 in the area between Leerbroek and Meerkerk, the most eastern part of the holme between the rivers Lek and Waal, known as "Vijfheerenland". It is one of the larger Verwoerd tribes in the Netherlands. This index contains over 4000 individuals and more than 1000 surnames, and is for the greater part based on research by Miny Verwoerd-Pijnenburg (1933-2003), Jan Verwoerdt (Sleeuwijk) and Dirk Verwoerd (Amersfoort), with important contributions by Peter Verwoerd (Waddinxveen), and many others.
